Ashley Beard ashley[at]renuhproject.com A former San Diego surfer turned cowgirl, Ashley is currently residing in the adventurous of state of Colorado. Her dedication to this war-torn country stems back to 2005 when she started working for the non-profit organization Invisible Children, where she traveled the United States as public speaker. Since then, she has maintained her position as a spokeswoman on behalf of issues ranging from the role of children in armed conflict to healthcare in the developing world. Ashley has recently returned from researching these issues first hand with the RENUH team in Eastern Africa. She is featured in the book "Girl Soldier: A Story of Hope for Northern Uganda's Children" (2007) and was named by PEOPLE magazine and Time INC as "100 Most Influential Women of the Year" (2008). Ashley is currently finishing her education in Global Health Sciences, Journalism, and International Relations at the University of Colorado at Denver. |

Kelsey Smith kelseys[at]renuhproject.com Kelsey is a double major in Psychology and Spanish at Appalachian State University. She grew up on the east coast in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. In the summer of 2007, she joined the ReNUH team and traveled to Uganda in order to help build relationships with the health community and the government to raise support and awareness for healthcare in Northern Uganda. Kelsey plans to use her education in Psychology to work in developing countries, assisting in the treatment of children suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder among other conflict-related conditions. In her spare time, she enjoys gazing at the sky, traveling the world, speaking Spanish, and being the ultimate bookworm. |

Lindsey Peterson lindsey[at]renuhproject.com Lindsey spent the summer of 2006 as a volunteer in Northern Uganda. She was one of the original ReNUH team members and continues to pour her heart into efforts to bring aid and relief to the suffering people of this region. Lindsey is from Connecticut, but currently resides in San Diego. She has always been passionate about serving and helping those in need. She has always dreamed of working on a global level. Lindsey served in the US Army National Guard for 6 years and received her BA in Psychology from San Diego State University. She plans on attending a graduate program for International Relations with a focus on Humanitarian Aid. |

sarah car sarah[at]renuhproject.com After returning to her home in Pennsylvania from her first trip to Uganda, Sarah could not forget the people and the stories she had encountered. Sarah is now studying human services and intends to study medicine in order to serve where healthcare is underdeveloped. An outdoor enthusiast, Sarah enjoys kayaking, hiking, and photography. She has also traveled to the Philippines and Jamaica on humanitarian trips. |

Gary Morris gary[at]renuhproject.com A former US Marine, Gary has always felt a strong desire to ‘serve’ but found his true calling in life toward the end of his tour in Iraq, when he first visited Africa. Since then, his life has never been the same. Gary is a graduate of George Washington University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs with a concentration in Global Public Health. In his "free time", Gary can be found with a camera in hand capturing the worlds most pressing issues. Gary serves as our Program Director in Gulu, Uganda. |

Lilly Schumicky lilly[at]renuhproject.com Lilla Schumicky was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1983. She gained her MA degree from Philosophy as well as a Diploma from African Studies. She is currently working for her MA in the discipline of Cultural Anthropology. She has been studying in Budapest at University of ELTE and Miskolc, Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and Sorbonne Paris I in Paris, France. She has divided her time between Africa and Europe for the past six years studying and working in the field of Humanitarian Aid in both Western and Eastern Africa. She has been living in Gulu, Northern Uganda for the past year after having successfully completed seven months of research Gambia. She has number of years of experiences in project design and development as well implementation and program management. Lilly hopes to complete her studies with a PhD in Refugee Studies and Applied Anthropology. |

Katherine Key katherine[at]renuhproject.com Katherine is from a small town in Michigan and currently resides in the Grand Rapids area. She is pursuing her bachelors’ degree in Public Relations and Advertising from Grand Valley State University. Katherine has always felt a strong desire to serve and is enjoying her internship with ReNUH immensely. Katherine plans to pursue a graduate program for International Development. |
